PENSACOLA BEACH, FLORIDA |
This is where I spend my winters now...at least for a year or two more. It is brisk in the winter, but the sun is delightfully warm. The sand is brilliant white and the people are friendly. I enjoy watching the sunsets on the beach, examining wave structure, finding elegant shells and working on art projects...painting, crafting and donating an item or two to the Pensacola Beach Women's Club benefit held in March. | ||
SUNSET ON THE BEACH oil on canvas board" 8" x 10".........$350 One winter evening in Pensacola FL, we sat on the beach at sunset, dressed in our longjohns, long pants, heavy jackets and headbands! But the air was clean, clear and crisp. It was a special feeling to watch the sun dip behind the clouds. So, when we got up to leave, I thought that taking a photo of the chairs might lead to an interesting painting. |

GREAT EXPECTATIONS! Oil: 12" x 24"....... $450 There was such a foggy day that we couldn't even see the surf nor the end of the line of beach chairs and umbrellas! Apparently the name of this painting just jumped into my head. Painting fog was a challenge, but I stuck with the challenge. Prints in various sizes and products can be purchased at FineartAmerica.com |
SITTING ON THE BEACH Oil: 12" x 12" ......$250 The beautiful deep blue chairs and umbrellas at the Portofino offer a nice contrast to the brilliant white sand.
WAITING FOR THE BEACH SITTERS Oil: 12" x 24" ......$450 In winter, they only put out one row of the chairs and umbrellas, but in summer there are at least three rows, each having around 60 chairs! I am fascinated by the color and patterns created by the chairs, the footprints in the sand, etc. Prints in various sizes and products can be purchased at FineArtAmerica.com |
MOONLIT WAVES Oil: 12" x 12"....$250 I love examining the light on the waves in all sorts of weather. This painting came from my memory of moonlight on the waves. |
SHELLS IN PENSACOLA SAND Oil: 11" x 14".....$250 This was painted with the sand embedded in the paint. The original painting has very heavy sand texture in it. I found this to be fun and challenging, as I had never used natural items as a part of the paint. |
PENSACOLA SAND AND SHELLS Oil: 10" x 10"....$250 This painting also has Pensacola white sand embedded in the paint. |
CLUSTERED ON THE BEACH Oil: 12" x 12".....$250 Another painting with sand embedded |
CONCH AT REST Oil: 12" x 12"......$250 This painting has a traditional smooth background rather than embedded sand. |
RESTING IN THE SAND Oil: 12" x 12"......$250 Again, sand is embedded in this painting. |
GLISTENING WAVES Oil: 11" x 14" .....$250 The sun peeking through the clouded sky creates a sharp contrast in the light on the waves. |
